Korea Travelogue: Day 11 - Cat Cafe, Gwangalli Beach

Day 11 Itinerary (Part 2)

  • Seomyeon

  • Cat Cafe Attic Cat

  • Gwangalli Beach

Ok, yay for being productive Paula! Here's Part 1 of Day 11 if you've missed it :)

So..... moving on from the dog cafe in the last entry, we decided to head to Seomyeon to shop because it was getting pretty late. Like I mentioned, it was supposed to be chillax for the four of us and I do recall visiting Seomyeon back in 2011 during our day trip to Busan.

And the place has really changed alot! The huge Beanpole store was nowhere to be seen while a lot of stores have popped up over the years.

By the way, Seomyeon is basically a shopping district in Busan. Kinda like a mini Myeongdong? Well you can get any kind of item here from apparel, makeup, food and all sorts of things. Think the only thing lacking is a hypermart/supermarket but I could be wrong lol.

Directions

Take the metro to Seomyeon Station and exit at Exit No. 1.

Love the quirky 'veggie' looking plants planted along the pavement.

So here's where we ended up in Seomyeon lol. Yup, dog and cat cafes in a day #YOLO

Story was we were trying to save money and just window shop but came across the sign for this cat cafe. Decided to go there to kill time before dinner as it was part of our agenda to visit a cat cafe.

Address

고양이다락방 (서면점) / Cat Cafe Attic Cafe (Seomyeon Branch)

Address for reference: 부산광역시 부산진구 부전2동

I don't have any specific directions for you other than to lookout for the banner on your left while walking down the street of Seomyeon . You can refer to the map below from Exit No. 1 or 2.

I was quite sceptical at first given the bad experience we had at the dog cafe previously. Was quite ready to leave without entering but surprisingly the cafe had a large space and was extremely well-maintained i.e. no cat fur flying around nor bad smell so we decided to go in.

They had strict instructions pasted all over the walls of the cafe to remind patrons how to treat their cats with respect which I find is a responsible thing to do.

Upon entering they will spray sanitizer onto your hands to ensure that you do not bring any harmful germs/bacteria that may harm the cats. Entrance fee was KRW 7,000 and inclusive of one beverage.

You can use the free wifi available there and also purchase cat food to bribe feed the cats which is quite fun to do.

I'm not a cat person (prefer dogs actually) because I've been scratched too many times by my friend's cat lol so I was a little hesistant. This was probably the best animal cafe I visited during the entire trip! :D The cats were really adorable and tame too!

And let me tell you, there were at least close to 30 cats in the whole cafe! I've never seen so many of them congregated in one area before.

Meow~

If you get confused by the breed of cats there, the cafe has a poster of the different cats and breed with its name listed so you can easily identify them. We just ended up calling the cats by their celebrity counterparts' names like the Russian blue Heebum (Super Junior Heechul's cat) and one cat who looks like Dara (2NE1) and Thunder (MBLAQ)'s cat Dadoongie xD #kpopfansforlife

Pretty funny running after the cat calling it 'Heebum-ah~' #delusionalmuch

Pretty kitties!

Very amazed by how detailed the cafe is for the cats' enjoyment. Here's their toilet lol.

The cats will sit there and let you touch them - very human friendly really!

We went around trying to find cats that were just sitting there quietly to take pictures with haha. After awhile all of them started to look alike really :/

If only my life was as good as a cat - eat, sleep, play and repeat. Aishhhhhh.

The cats are really the VVIPs man - every human will chase after them lol and not the other way around. Here's grumpycat and all 4 of us.

Do I smell FOOOOOOOOD?

After awhile we decided to buy a pack of cat food to split among us to bribe the cats. Seriously once you have food in your hands, all the cats will flock to you and wait patiently for you to feed them. Stella started calling them 陪客 because you have to pay for them to come to you LOLOLOL!

Your popularity will shoot up once you have food in your hand lol. The feeling of the cat licking the food off your palm is quite ticklish in my opinion, really once in a lifetime experience since I've never owned a cat before.

'No food no pictures human!'

'No food no pictures human!'

'No more food liao, you see!' *raises empty palms*

This cat was pretty freaky looking in my opinion. Think it's a Siamese breed or something like that.

It sat so quietly atop our table for us to take pictures with - super cute!

Here's 'Heebum' <---- self-given name since it is the same breed as Heechul's cat lol. We were literally calling it Heebum rofl.

Of course since you 自己送上门来, I had to take a selfie with it!

I wasn’t the only one taking selfies with cats lol

Anyway we had a great time at the cat cafe! I highly recommend that you try and experience it while in Korea, totally worth the money and time spent there. Makes me wanna own a kitty too :O

Next on our agenda was dinner so we went to this restaurant located in the basement which the bff and I tried before on our last trip. It serves typical Korean fare so plenty of choices for you to choose from.

Ordered Set C for KRW21,500 along with a cheese egg roll for KRW5,000. Total bill came up to pretty decent prices because the food was alot in my opinion.

And then we couldn't skip dessert despite being super full so once we left the restaurant, someone spotted this macaron ice cream shop and we just walked over to start selecting our orders #fatdieus

By the way, macaron ice creams were one of the craze then in Korea so even it is pretty much available in most places with large human crowds.

You can select your own macaron shell and the flavour of your ice cream.

Yes, ice cream in sub-zero temperature is really nothing #ikid

Each of us ordered one each FOL.

I went for the grape flavour because it was one of their bestselling flavours. However the whole thing taste pretty bubble-gummy in my opinion and I didn't finish my ice cream in the end cos the taste was too jelak already.

Final stop for the day - Gwangalli Beach! This is basically another of Busan's famous beaches and we just wanted to cover it as part of our trip but it was practically deserted at night in winter.

Directions

Take the metro to Gwangan Station, Exit #3 or #5. Walk 5 minutes to the beach.

The bridge is pretty massive and I think there is a laser/light show during the warmer months.

Totally not romantic at all to freeze our butts off by the sea haha. But anyway, that's all for the first day in Busan! Will cover our next destination in the entry to come.

Till then, bye!
